‘Balische zusjes op ’t tempelfeest‘ (‘Balinese sisters at the temple feast‘),

The woman on the left is Ni Noneh, a well-known model. The name of her sister is still unknown at the moment. As far as we know, this is the largest size for a painting that Hofker made on Bali. Only two other paintings by Hofker have this size: ‘The Weaving Lesson’, March 1939 and ‘Ni Gusti Compiang Mawar in ceremonial dress’ 1940-1941, Sukarno Collection.
